2022: Utah

5/30/23

For the last three years I've spent a week in Utah during Autumn. Some places now feel familiar, others are starting to become so, and there are countless more left to discover. There is so much beauty and wonder to be found here that it feels natural and right to be photographing it, to spend a whole day entranced and awed by the world. I feel privileged to spend time in this wonderful desert and I hope to keep rediscovering it time and again.

After each visit, I've noticed significant changes in my photography. I'm not sure why or what it is about this place, but my trips to Utah help reinvigorate and inspire me keep learning and growing as a photographer. It feels like the experiences and lessons of the past year culminate here. Maybe it's the solitude and empty expanse of the desert that frees me from my own expectations, or maybe it's the sense of comfort and love I now feel for this state.

These images were taken in Zion, Capitol Reef and surrounding areas of Utah during the fall of 2022. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!
